Today marks the thirteenth anniversary of the death of two Lake Highlands High School students, Katie Finley and Megan Jones. On Feb. 17, 1996, the girls were out late, partying with friends. They didn’t see the oncoming police car, speeding down Skillman at Fair Oaks Crossing.

Once they pulled out, it was too late. The girls were very involved on campus and well liked by teachers and peers alike. Their funerals were attended by hundreds of heartbroken mourners. Today would be a good day to tell your children you love them and remind them to make wise choices.
