The District 9-5A opener with Skyline on Sept. 25 is shaping up to be a doozy.
Skyline showed up at No. 22 in the National Prep Football Poll. Say what you want about the accuracy of national polls on high school sports, but at minimum it shows Skyline is getting a lot of respect.
In the regional breakdown, Skyline is ranked No. 6 in the Southwest. Garland, the team Lake Highlands plays just before Skyline, is ranked No. 9 in the region.
Last year, LH lost a wild shootout to Garland, 40-38. The Wildcats followed that with a sterling defensive performance to upset Skyline, 24-20.
It’s going to be a fun September.
