Looking for a gift or craft shop a little different from the norm? Try the Rock Barrell, just a bit north of our neighborhood. The name itself is unusual, with its own brand of spelling and an emphasis on rocks, which actually is not the emphasis of the store. Sure, it has quite a few rocks and minerals, many of them lovely. But the main thing you’ll find is beads. Beads of every shape, size, color and kind imaginable. So if you’ve ever thought about making your own jewelry, jazzing up a lamp shade or coming up with a unique and not-too-expensive gift, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. A nondescript spot on the north end of the Texas Instruments campus, the shop itself isn’t anything to ooh and aah over, but the quality and quantity of the merchandise is.
