OK, I know this is a Channel 5 TV news story, and the fact that it’s positioned next to the headline "Jennifer Love Hewitt defends curvy figure" probably doesn’t give it the weight of a story in the Morning News, but here goes: Now that Dallas police are responding to business burglary calls again after Mayor Leppert and a majority of the council sacked the Verified Response system several months ago, the number of burglaries has increased. The fact that the number of business burglaries essentially was flat or slightly lower when Verified Response was in effect (basically, police didn’t respond to burglaries unless a private alarm company hired by the business had previously "verified" that an actual burglary had occurred) wasn’t persuasive to Leppert then, so I don’t imagine that even though burglaries are now up after Verified Response went away will make much difference, either. Just thought it was worth pointing out.
