Speaking of LHFC principals (see post below), this summer marked the end of an era. Dave Casey has retired after 27 years with the Richardson ISD. Dave was the founding principal at the Freshman Center, where he personally recruited and hired each teacher. He is a former LHHS assistant principal, a former Berkner principal, 1998 Administrator of the Year, and 1990 RISD Teacher of the Year, among many other honors.

After a Friday night football game in 2004, Dave was securing the Berkner campus when he fell backwards down a flight of stairs, breaking his foot and his back. He lived in a great deal of pain during two years of back surgeries and rehab, forcing him to move from the principal job he loved to a desk job in administration. Although we are sad to see him retire today, we look forward to the coming LHHS football and basketball seasons, where he’ll be found applauding stepdaughter Meagan Collier, a Wildcat varsity cheerleader. Dave is an LH resident, and – with his back fully recovered – he looks forward to attending all the neighborhood events he had to miss due to his leadership role at Berkner. Welcome to the LH sidelines Dave!
