After City Council passed an ordinance amending the Dallas City Code to include vaping in its definition of smoking last year, the public was given a year-long grace period to adjust to the policy, which results in a de facto vaping ban in all currently-mandated nonsmoking spaces. The ban will take effect on Thursday, Dec. 11.

Just like smoking, vaping will now be banned in all indoor and enclosed spaces, within 15 feet of building entrances, and on park property in the City of Dallas. A release emphasized that the ordinance did not add any new locations to the list of smoking-restricted areas.

Per the ordinance, businesses must also update signage to clearly indicate that vaping is banned alongside smoking.
