Waters Edge Winery & Bistro has won an award from the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
Promising locally vinted wines and a full-service kitchen, the franchise concept first opened its doors in Creekside Shopping Center in March. On Nov. 18, Waters Edge Dallas and its owners, Kate, Chris and Henry Vahdani, were awarded the R.S. Munger Business Pioneer Award by the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce for “their creative/artistic business concept.” Fortunately for the franchise owners, the award did not need to travel far for display as the ceremony was hosted in the winery, according to a release.
The business has the distinction of producing the first commercially-vinted wine in Lake Highlands. Part of a wider franchise operation, the business imports grape must (juice which contains skins, seeds and stems) before aging and vinting the varietals at a satellite facility in the shopping center.
In addition to a range of wines sourced from around the world, the business offers a full food menu curated by chef Jace Leggitt. Offerings include tapas-style small plates, shared appetizers and heartier main options including a honey-brined thick-cut pork chop ($39). The business has also added a burger ($17) served with crispy onions and dijon emulsion.
Waters Edge offers devoted connoisseurs several levels of wine club memberships. Prices range from a $385 yearly fee for membership in the Crystal Club to $33 a month for the Bayside Club. Perks include free tours, discounts and exclusive tastings.
