The Lake Highlands vs. Irving Nimitz football game has been moved up to Thursday in response to forecasted inclement weather.
With the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth-Dallas office forecasting widespread storms/showers on Friday and Saturday, the decision was made to move all three Richardson ISD home games to Thursday, the district announced. RISD has been joined by many North Texas Districts, including Plano and Highland Park, in rescheduling games from Friday night.
The game will still kick off at 7 p.m. at Wildcat-Ram Stadium. Subvarsity games planned for Thursday will be played on Wednesday, with their kick-off times also unchanged.
Lake Highlands currently holds first place in UIL District 7-6A standings following a dominant win against Berkner last week. A large part of the team’s success can be attributed to its trio of offensive stars. Quarterback Chuck Smith received an offer to continue his playing career at TCU earlier this week, and SMU commit Christian Rhodes and breakout junior athlete Franklon Evans have combined for 1,529 all-purpose yards and 20 touchdowns.
Following the matchup against Nimitz, the Wildcats will take on Richardson away from home in a Halloween matchup on Oct. 31.
