Starting the week of Aug. 25, the PAL will host youth basketball camps each Monday at various recreation centers around Dallas, including Lake Highlands North. The no-cost camps are open to all Dallas residents aged 8-18 years old.

Each camp will be led by Dallas Police officers. Additionally, there will be appearances by the Mavs ManiAACs, the Dallas Mavericks’ longtime all-male team of stadium performers.

Camps are split into two sessions: 8-13 year-olds from 4-6 p.m. and 14-18 year-olds from 6-8 p.m. Signups can be found on the PAL’s Facebook page. The camps will be offered until Oct. 6. Other recreation centers offering camps include Thurgood Marshall, Harry Stone, Singing Hills and Fireside.

The Police Activities League is a DPD initiative that aims to deter youths from crime by providing athletic and educational activities free of charge.
