Earlier this week, it was announced that Christina Fuller of Moss Haven Elementary had been recognized by the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance as the 2025 Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year. In December, she will be formally recognized at the association’s annual convention in Fort Worth.

According to an RISD release, Fuller has worked at Moss Haven for seven years and has been in the Lake Highlands Learning Community for 16. A member of the district’s elementary PE lead team, her classes incorporate activities with pop culture themes including Minecraft, Super Mario and Pokémon.

“I am humbled to receive the Elementary PE Teacher of the Year award,” Fuller stated in a release. “This recognition is not just about me—it’s about the amazing students who inspire me daily, the supportive colleagues I get to learn from, and the power of physical education and its role in helping every child discover the joy of movement, build lifelong wellness habits, and feel successful through physical activity.”

Under Fuller, Moss Haven achieved the fifth-highest rate out of all Texas elementary schools in student participation in Finn’s Mission. The program, organized by the American Heart Association, educates children on CPR and heart health while supporting the AHA’s mission.
