According to Jason Evans of Dallas Fire Rescue, multiple crews were dispatched to the home in the 9100 block of Windy Crest at 10:19 a.m. when a 911 caller reported a golf cart on fire inside the garage. When firefighters arrived, they found the back of the house was fully involved. They deployed hand lines and initiated an offensive attack, knocking the fire down and declaring it extinguished at 11:46 a.m.

The sole female occupant inside the house when the fire began was preparing to leave when she heard an explosion from the garage. She found the golf cart burning when she went to investigate, and she called 911.

Investigators believe the fire was accidental in nature and began with the golf cart, but they aren’t sure what specifically caused the fire.

Crews from multiple fire houses joined the fight.
