How do you know Old Man Winter is making his way to Dallas? Cooler temps are surely coming when you spot Canada geese flying overhead — or ambling through the parking lot at Walnut Hill at 75, as they did Friday at midday.
Shoppers and diners at The Hill spotted dozens of geese traipsing through the center during the lunch hour. The gaggle entertained some, who enjoyed the sight while dining on the patio. Others were irked at being held up in traffic as the geese wandered carelessly between cars.
The first southbound geese typically arrive in Texas in late September, though most arrive in late October. They stick around through the winter, making parks, ponds and other spaces their seasonal home. They migrate to escape Canada’s harsh winter and seek plentiful food supplies in warmer climates. Lunchtime entertainment at The Hill is just our lucky break.
