Things got a little crazy at Fish City Grill Monday afternoon when a 92-year-old woman backed her black four-door Cadillac SUV into the bar area. Somehow the car engine revved as she backed out of her parking space and she did a quick U-turn in reverse, smashing through the shop’s wall of plate glass.
The woman’s car pushed past the big ten-top table at the front corner of the restaurant and finally came to rest when it bumped up against the bar. The folks at Fish City say no one — from the driver to restaurant patrons and employees to passersby on the Lake Highlands Town Center sidewalk — was injured in the melee.
Crews began cleaning up the neighborhood hotspot, known for their chalkboard specials, evening happy hours and Tuesday giveaways to community nonprofits, immediately after Dallas Fire Rescue drove away. A few wooden chairs were banged up and a portion of the stone bar was dislodged, but managers say they’ll be open for lunch at 11 a.m. today. (If you prefer alfresco dining, though, they kindly ask that you take a seat on their patio.)
You’ll find their full menu here.
