Established in 2008 by a group of neighbors with the goal of bringing together the community through planting, the garden has over 100 plots tended to by twice that number of planters, a donation plot, rain garden and butterfly garden. In the past, the garden has donated thousands of pounds of produce to local charities.

Beginning at 8 a.m, volunteers will help weed paths, maintain the butterfly gardens and replace plot boards. Organizers have already collected all of the necessary supplies, but neighbors are asked to bring cordless power drills if possible. For those planning on attending, wearing appropriate gardening attire is encouraged.

The Lake Highlands Community Garden is located at 79011 Goforth Rd.
