This summer, Richardson Independent School District and the University of Texas at Dallas are teaming up to offer a free math program to interested students.

A UTD program, Future CometsĀ is a free-of-charge summer camp designed to increase college readiness for students in middle school and high school. The camp will ā€œcover beginner, as well as accelerated courses in math which closely align with the math curriculum,ā€ according to its registration form.Ā 

The camp will be offered from July 15. to July 17, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration, found here, will close as soon as capacity is reached. RISD buses will be available to transport campers to the Science Learning Center on the UTD Campus, although seating will be limited. Refreshments will also be provided.Ā 

Those attending will be able to attend a series of monthly math enrichment sessions throughout the 2024/25 school year covering Algebra I, Il, Geometry, and SAT/ACT curriculums. Additional prep sessions to help with exam prep and tests will also be scheduled during the school year.Ā 

The program was launched in 2017 and services both RISD and DISD.
