2021 Exchange Club parade

The Lake Highlands Exchange Club has hosted some fascinating Grand Marshals at their Fourth of July Parade over the years, but this year will be truly special. In recognition and solidarity with Ukrainians fighting for their freedom halfway around the world, they’ve invited the Ukrainian Club of Dallas to lead the way.

“It’s a little different I know,” says Wes Johnston, chairman of the event, “but it’s a neat opportunity to support our friends while also acknowledging the spirit of our own 4th of July holiday and what it stands for.”

The parade begins at 9 a.m. in front of North Highlands Bible Church, 9626 Church Road across from the Lake Highlands High School tennis courts, and proceeds toward the recreation center parking lot, where food, games and live music await. The merriment continues until noon.

Neighborhood organizations are encouraged to decorate vehicles for the parade, and children may ride on bikes, trikes and wagons decked out in red, white and blue.
