DPD’s northeast division will host Taste of Northeast Thursday

The Dallas Police Department’s northeast division will host their annual Volunteer Recognition and Taste of Northeast Thursday, featuring dozens of restaurants from around the community. In addition to local restaurant menu items including barbecue, fajitas, pasta and desserts, neighborhood officers will cook up some of their famous fried fish for attendees.

They’ll also present awards to folks who back the blue and make their jobs easier – Volunteer in Patrol Group of the Year, Volunteer in Patrol Member of the Year, Neighborhood Association of the Year, Darrell Wood Volunteer of the Year and Multi-family Person of the Year.

Taste of Northeast is free, and doors open at 5:30 p.m. at Highland Oaks Church of Christ for sampling of food and viewing of tables. The volunteer recognition program runs from 6:30-7:30. The DPD invites attendees to help replenish the Highland Oaks food pantry. Items such as Spam, canned salmon, Vienna sausage, canned ham, apricots, grape or strawberry jelly, refried beans, toilet paper, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and diapers are especially appreciated.
