Lake Highlands High School defeated Coppell Thursday night 53-50 to become area basketball champs. They’ll face Jesuit Saturday at 5 p.m. in Berkner’s gym for the 6A Region 1 quarterfinals.

The unranked Wildcats (19-7) surprised #22 Coppell (19-4) and will advance to the third round for the first time since 2004. Tre Johnson, Jalen Majors and Noah McDavid were lead scorers in the game. Go Cats.
