Lake Highlands residents have several free, family-friendly events to choose from this Saturday, April 11, 2026, ranging from community giveaways to outdoor activities.

Audelia Road Branch Library, “Gift Away Saturday”

At the Audelia Road Branch Library, “Gift-Away Saturday” will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The event invites community members to browse and take home donated items at no cost, including clothing, household items, toys and home decor. 

The program is part of the library’s ongoing effort to connect residents with helpful resources.

Forest Green Branch Library, Community Gardening Event

Earlier in the day, the Forest Green Branch Library will host a community gardening event focused on potted planting from 10 a.m to noon. 

Participants can work together in the library’s garden space to plant vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants, while sharing knowledge and resources. 

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own gardening tools, though some materials will be provided.

City Park, “Just for Dogs!”

For pet lovers, City Park will host the “Just for Dogs!” event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The event will feature low-cost vaccinations, pet adoptions, vendors and even a “pooch parade” for dogs dressed on costume. 

Hosted by the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, the event offers a chance for residents to connect with local pet services and enjoy a day outdoors with their dogs. 

City Park is located at 1515 S Harwood St., Dallas, TX 75215. 

All three events are free to attend and offer the perfect opportunity to enjoy a Saturday in Dallas.
