The first and second days of November following Halloween are traditionally celebrated in the Catholic Church as All Saints Day and All Souls Day. All Saints Day serves to commemorate individuals believed to have been especially holy in their life by the Church, whereas All Souls Day was created to memorialize the faithful departed.

To celebrate, parish children are invited to wear Saint costumes to the evening mass starting at 5 p.m. on Nov. 1. While religious costumes are encouraged, princess and superhero costumes will also be welcomed. St Patrick’s has asked that attendees steer away from gory or non-Church friendly costumes

The mass will be followed by a trunk or treat in the school gym until 8 p.m. It is free and open to families and all parish groups. Again, family-friendly themes are encouraged.

A chili cook-off will also take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Dubbed the ‘All Seoul Chili Cook Off,’ the contest will raise money for the St Patrick World Youth Day 2027 delegation’s trip to South Korea. Entry is open to all and costs $35. Contestants will compete in two categories: traditional red chili (the correct way) and homestyle (beans included). Winners will be awarded based upon a panel of judges. The chili can be cooked onsite or brought in, and must be prepared in a minimum two-gallon batch. No garnishes — yes, that includes Fritos — are allowed.
