Hausfest will bring live music, a dachshund parade and plenty of beer to Vector Brewing next weekend as it returns for a sixth year.
Held annually in the first few weekends following Oktoberfest Dallas, Vector Brewing’s Hausfest will return to Lakeridge Village on Oct. 12. While the 4K fun run and family walk have been scratched from the lineup, Vector has added a weenie dog parade sponsored by the Dachshund Lovers of Texas Rescue to its planned attractions for the day. Traditional attire is encouraged.
The celebration will begin at 11 a.m, although doors open at 7 a.m. for coffee and breakfast. Along with classic Vector drafts, seasonal beers like the Hausfest Festbier, Hefe Hefeweizen and Mountain Child Pilsner will be on offer in the spirit of the day. Attendees can also purchase their first pour in a commemorative, take-home ‘Das Stein’ for $20. Stein refills come in at $6.
Live music will be heard throughout the event, with entertainment on the main stage kicking off at noon with a polka-filled performance by the Oom-Pah Daddies, who return from last year’s Hausfest. At 3 p.m, LHHS garage band Halfway Down, who recently performed at Oktoberfest Dallas, will take the stage for a two–hour set.
The dachshund parade will begin at 2 p.m. Any neighbors who own dachshunds are welcome to bring their pet to be featured in the parade. The Dachshund Lovers of Texas Rescue will also have dogs available for adoption from noon to 3 p.m.
Hausfest falls on the weekend of the Red River Rivalry this year. The brewery will have the game on multiple TVs during the event.
The brewery will offer a shortened special menu, complete with bratwurst, for Hausfest. Pizzas will also be for sale.
Vector Brewing hosted the Market Village at Oktoberfest again this year, and will host 21 vendors inside its taproom for another vendor market next weekend. Local businesses represented include Mallory’s Cookie Jar, a crystal seller and hot sauce vendors.
The children’s area will be closed to make room for the event, although younger neighbors are still able to attend with their parents.
