Scheduled for 3 p.m. on July 13, the tasting will include five blind wine tastings representing ten distinct Waters Edge wines. Each tasting will be accompanied by a chef-curated selection of cheese.

At the tasting, head winemaker Alec Kemp and a member of the Founders Club will provide insight into the wines on offer and the regions they are sourced from. Executive chef Jace Leggitt will also be on hand to discuss wine and food pairings.

The winery opened in March, although due to the time required for vinting, it began selling locally-made wine for the first time over the summer. Currently, its wine menu comprises 14 varieties of sparkling, white and red wine, including a 2023 Cariñena Tempranillo and 2021 Monterey County Chardonnay.

Its food menu, developed by Leggitt with some additions from staff members, ranges from small plates and tapas like arancini ($13) to heavier plates like a 24-hour honey brined thick-cut pork chop ($42). Staff picks include the pretzel board ($14), Waters Wedge salad ($26) and Alec’s FunGuys ($14, which come stuffed with herbed cream cheese and white bean aioli.

According to the tasting event page, feedback on the tasting and future wines will be encouraged.

“Community interaction, community feedback and community give back from us are going to be important for all of us,” Kemp told the Advocate in March.

Reservations for the tasting come out to $53 per person and can be booked on the winery website.
