Burger Schmurger, a widely-acclaimed burger brand with Lake Highlands roots, took to Instagram Wednesday night to extend an offer of unlimited ‘Maverick’ burgers to the Duke standout. The Maverick is Burger Schmurger’s second highest-selling burger, behind the original ‘Schmurger, and comes on an inverted buttered bun with smoked bacon jam.

Flagg’s selection — and the improbable NBA Draft Lottery draw which made it possible for the Mavericks — comes as a consolation to Dallas basketball fans, months removed from the gut-wrenching Luka Doncic Trade. At Duke, Flagg averaged 18.9 points per game on close to 50% shooting. He was named AP Men’s Basketball Player of the Year (only the fourth freshman player in history to be awarded to the honor) and Naismith Player of the Year, the most prestigious annual award in NCAA basketball.
Flagg is only the Maverick’s second No.1 overall pick in franchise history. The last time the team held the pick was in 1981, when Mark Aguirre was drafted out of DePaul University.
Luckily, Dave Culwell and his team seem to be doing their part in keeping the Mavs’ first-round pick happy. Burger Schmurger opened its first brick-and-mortar location in April near the intersection of Garland Road and Northcliff Drive.
