Going back to at least the 60s, the parade is one of the neighborhood’s most beloved traditions. Much like another popular Lake Highlands event, Oktoberfest Dallas, the parade is organized by the Exchange Club, which has opened sign-ups to enter the parade.

Open to decorated vehicles, walking participants, bicycles and floats, the runtime of the parade — normally around one hour — is ultimately dependent on the number of participants. After the parade, the Exchange Club will host a carnival in Lake Highlands North Park complete with local vendors, food, music and entertainment for children.

In addition to parade participants, volunteers are needed for the parade and carnival. Sign-ups for volunteers can be found on the EXLH’s signupgenius page.

This year, the parade will be led by Grand Marshall and Northlake Elementary Principal Mary Kellagher.
