Fat Tuesday is today, so if you don’t already have Mardi Gras plans, there’s a few Lake Highlands spots getting into the spirit and letting the good times roll.

Fat Tuesday marks the last day before the 40-day Lenten fasting period for Catholics and is typically celebrated with plenty of food and drink. Celebrations have been taking place since early January in Louisiana and a parade was held this weekend in Oak Cliff.

Here’s two places celebrating Mardi Gras in Lake Highlands tonight.

Fish City Grill

7170 Skillman Street Suite 100

While seafood may be more associated with the days following Fat Tuesday due to some Catholics’ Lenten abstinence from meat, Fish City is celebrating Mardi Gras with food specials, drinks and beads.

House margaritas have been discounted to $6 and jello shots will be available for purchase for $1. Food specials include crawfish and shrimp tacos ($16), etouffee ($21) and jambalaya ($20). Crawfish is available for purchase for $8.99 per pound.

From 5-8 p.m., the Dollar Store Generals, a trio band, will play live music.

Shady’s Burgers and Brewhaha

9661 Audelia Road

Shady’s is celebrating Mardi Gras this year with po’boys and hurricanes. Hurricanes, a New Olreans signature sweet mixture of rum and fruit juice, will be available for purchase all night and can be ordered on the rocks or frozen. Shady’s has also added a shamrock shake, topped with Lucky Charms, as a March special for St. Patrick’s Day this year.
