Inclement weather conditions are expected to continue through Friday, Feb. 21. The City has issued winter weather safety guidelines and the Office of Emergency Management and Crisis Response (EMCR) has released updates regarding the City’s response to this winter weather event.
The Four Ps
Protect people: The City advises residents to reduce their time outdoors, wear multiple layers of clothing and check in on their fellow neighbors.
Protect pipes: Neighbors are advised to insulate their pipes, open sink cabinets and disconnect sprinklers.
Protect pets: Residents should be keeping their pets inside and ensure that their food and water supplies do not freeze.
Protect plants: Covering plants the evening before experiencing freezing temperatures prevents damage.
The City’s response & situation summary
Transportation and Public Works: Ice Force remained in effect until noon today, with 10 trucks ready to address hotspots as needed. Regular operations will resume tomorrow morning. One traffic signal has been knocked down.
Office of Homeless Solutions: There were 1,151 people in attendance at the Temporary Inclement Weather Shelters last night. 345 were located at Austin Street Center and 806 were located at Fair Park Grand Place. The Tower Building in Fair Park will be open today. Currently, the City is planning to close the Austin Street location on Friday and the Grand Place and Tower Building on Saturday.
Dallas Police Department (DPD): DPD was last documented as working nine traffic-related incidents as of 8 a.m..
