Due to hazardous road conditions, the City of Dallas is making adjustments to facility operating hours and garbage collection.
A winter storm brought a mix of snow and freezing rain to North Texas earlier this morning, with the National Weather Service warning that winter precipitation coverage will increase in the late afternoon and evening. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has announced that county court buildings and offices will be closed today and tomorrow. In response to wintery conditions, the City of Dallas has shortened library and recreation center hours.
In a call with @NWSFortWorth and our cities, ISDs, @oncor @TxDOT + others we were informed of weather models indicating travel impacts in the morning hours tomorrow with melting not likely until afternoon.
I’ve made the decision that @DallasCountyTx will be CLOSED FRIDAY 1/10.— Clay Lewis Jenkins (@JudgeClayJ) January 9, 2025
Dallas Public Libraries will close at 4 p.m. today and reopen tomorrow at 1 p.m. Recreation centers have also adjusted their hours. The new modified schedule is as follows:
Thursday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dallas Sanitation has also announced that it has suspended Thursday collection routes, according to a release. Sanitation will “attempt” to make collections on Friday and Saturday, conditions permitting. The release warned that “collection may be significantly delayed or postponed this week.”
