Team mom Wendy Lucas was honored by Dave Campbell’s Football and Yo Quiero earlier this year.
Lake Highlands’ own Wendy Lucas has been named one of ten best team moms in the state by the folks at Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, and they should know. The sports magazine has been covering high school and college football for more than 60 years.
Now, Lucas needs our help. DCTF is pairing with Yo Quiero Brands (think guacamole, salsa and queso) to recognize one mom who consistently goes above and beyond to support her team and foster community spirit. She’ll earn the title Team Mom of the Year statewide.
Lucas is a local realtor and LHHS grad who’s been faithfully serving the football team for years. She’s been a volunteer at the school for both sons and her daughter, and this year she’s focused on Blake, a senior linebacker and the caboose of the family. She bakes cookies for the team and coordinates all the little details for home and away games to ensure every player on the team has the best possible experience. She worked to create an ideal experience for fans, too. No matter the weather, she and husband, Carl, installed the red, white and black flags you see at the top of the stadium each game day.
