Lake Highlands shut out South Grand Prairie at home to advance to the second round of the UIL 6A Division 1 football playoffs last Friday.
The Wildcats posted scores in each quarter in a game that finished 27-0. South Grand Prairie was held to just 163 yards of total offense, as opposed to the Wildcats’ 407 yards. LHHS gained over 280 yards on the ground, led by senior running back Christian Rhodes with 127 yards on 16 carries.
With the win, the Wildcats have now advanced to the second round in each of Coach Cory Campbell’s first two seasons at the helm.
The squad will take on the undefeated Coppell Cowboys this Friday at 7 p.m at John Clark Stadium in Plano. The teams previously scrimmaged to open the season.
