Hit Man is directed by Texan Richard Linklater and based on Skip Hollandsworth’s 2001 Texas Monthly article about a real-life professor who moonlighted as an ersatz hit man for his local police department. In the film, the plan goes wildly off the rails when the man, played by Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick), falls for one of his customers, played by Adria Arjona. Holtzman plays the woman’s husband, and let’s just say some folks need killing.

Holtzman took a winding road to acting, graduating from the University of Texas with an engineering degree. He designed oil and gas rigs in Houston before he moved to Los Angeles to work for a different energy company. There, he moved in with an actor roommate who encouraged him to take an acting class. He must have earned an A.

Holtzman appeared opposite Elisabeth Shue in “On The Verge” (2021) and Michelle Monaghan in “Messiah” (2020). He was in episodes of “S.W.A.T.” (2020), “The Inspectors” (2019) and “Westworld” (2018), among other projects. He’s also a professional stuntman, and he worked on Alex Garland’s recent feature film, Civil War, starring Kirsten Dunst and Nick Offerman.
