A Richardson ISD school bus driver was attacked and pulled from his bus by an angry parent, according to a report by NBC 5. The incident occurred Feb. 1 while the driver was on his regular Skillman Street route just north of LBJ and had elementary-aged children on his bus.

Danny Senkow, a bus driver with seven years’ experience, told NBC 5 he was driving after school when his students became rambunctious. Unable to control them and feeling unsafe continuing the drive, he pulled the bus over. He radioed dispatch and asked them to call the police.

As he and the kids waited along the 9300 block of Skillman, a parent pressed his way onto the bus.

“We had a fight there right in the bus,” Senkow told NBC 5. “I used my leg to try to push him out of the bus. And that was a bad maneuver because he grabbed onto my left ankle and pulled me out of the bus, down the stairs, out to the sidewalk.”

Dallas police officers responded about 3:40 p.m. and are investigating the incident, and RISD is investigating, as well. The abusive parent left the scene before officers arrived.

Students living along that stretch of Skillman feed into Lake Highlands schools.

This post has been edited to add the date of the incident and note that the children are elementary-aged. A photo of the suspect has also been added.
