As some movies celebrate their 20th anniversary since hitting the screen, others are just summer classics. Several movies, including Shrek 2, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Oldboy and Drop Dead Gorgeous, will be shown for a limited time at the Lake Highlands theater location.

August 12 

  • Shrek 2

Alamo Drafthouse is celebrating the second installment of Shrek with a swamp party this Saturday. The event features games, interactive fun, an onion keychain, medieval meal box, ogre ears and your very own fairy wand, according to the description.

August 16

  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, 6:30 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters for this second installment of the Harry Potter series. The movie was released more than 20 years ago and follow’s Harry’s return to Hogwarts despite warnings from Dobby the House Elf.

  • Oldboy

This South-Korean film is turning 20. To celebrate its anniversary, the theater is showing a restored and remastered version of the Park Chan-Wook film.

August 20

  • Drop Dead Gorgeous

As part of Champagne Cinema, guests are invited to sip champagne while watching beauty pageants. In this 90s film, Drop Dead Gorgeous shows several young contestants competing for the title of Miss American Teen Princess as they start dropping dead.

August 26 – 27

Enjoy brunch at one of these two 2000s era movies.

  • Wet Hot American Summer

This comedy shows the last day of summer camp in 1981 and follows a group of camp counselors.

Yet another comedy, the focus of this film is on a group of schoolgirl crimefighters training to become the newest members of the elite national-defense group, D.E.B.S.
