Golf tournament participants also had the opportunity to enter raffles for gift cards, sporting events and concert tickets, among other prizes.

All of the proceeds from the event will help fund the renovation of Winfrey Point, a historic building at White Rock Lake Park. In January, the White Rock Lake Foundation provided more than $151,000 to Dallas Park and Recreation to be used for the project, which comes with a price tag of about $500,000.

The construction will help restore Winfrey Point, with work encompassing interior and exterior paint, roofing and flooring.

Held in May at Stevens Park Golf Course, the tournament is one of two major fundraisers for the local nonprofit, which was founded in 1989.

In November, the foundation will hold its second annual Jewel of Dallas Gala. Last year’s event, held at the Granada Theater in Lower Greenville, raised more than $95,000.

The White Rock Lake Foundation has raised millions of dollars for projects benefitting White Rock Lake Park in its more than three decades of existence. Among the more recent improvements are 11 directional signs that help trail users identify their location and distances between landmarks; these graffiti-proof signs cost about $40,000 and were provided through a partnership with the Dallas Running Club.
