A teacher from Lake Highlands Elementary was recognized as Elementary Teacher of the Year by Texas PTA.

Veronica Bullard, who is a literacy interventionist and licensed dyslexia therapist at Lake Highlands Elementary, will receive the award during the Texas PTA’s annual LAUNCH conference in July. Four educators from Lewisville ISD, Beaumont ISD, Corpus Christi ISD and Northside ISD are also recipients of outstanding educator awards.

“I am beyond honored and grateful for this prestigious recognition, especially because the nomination came directly from a former student and her family whom I served as her dyslexia teacher a few years ago. I was born and raised in Venezuela but was fortunate enough to start teaching at LHE 18 years ago. I am passionate about early literacy and have spent most of my years in education teaching kids to read and ensuring they believe in their full potential, regardless of their upbringing or any learning differences. I am so grateful for our school community, my colleagues, my family and all who have supported me in this journey,” said Bullard in an emailed statement.

The annual conference will feature multiple sessions, including national PTA updates, a celebration of scholarship and more. The meeting will take place from July 21 – 23.
