The stand-up paddle and kayak rental is replacing White Rock Paddle Company, which shut down in 2022 after 13 years. “The vendor criteria has changed and as a small business, we can no longer compete,” the owners wrote on Facebook last year.

White Rock Lake-based rowing club Dallas United Crew is running Dallas Paddle, which has a three-year contract with the City of Dallas. Rental proceeds benefit Dallas parks and the rowing club; DUC’s RowDallas program provides academic tutoring and rowing opportunities for Dallas ISD students who attend Title I schools.

Dallas Paddle, which opened in April, offers rentals by the hour or all day, and no reservations are required.

In a recent White Rock Lake Task Force meeting, Austin Brooks, the executive director for DUC, said the boats and boards have Dallas Paddle’s branding on them; so if you’re out and about and see a stray one lying somewhere, please let Dallas Paddle know, Brooks asked.

Dallas Paddle’s ramp is at 389 E. Lawther Drive, just north of DUC’s headquarters.
