Simmons began his career as a teacher and coach in Gatesville and Rockwall, later serving ten years in MISD. Most recently, he has been the principal at McDonald Middle School, and he’ll begin the transition to his high school responsibilities as the school year ends.

West Mesquite competes in UIL’s 5A, so LHHS athletes are unlikely to encounter Simmons cheering his students, but we could see him nearby. In baseball, basketball and most other sports, the Wranglers play in District 12-5A with Dallas ISD schools including Conrad High, just outside the Lake Highlands boundaries.

Congratulations, Dr. Simmons.
