Cory Campbell has been named Lake Highlands High School’s new head football coach and athletic coordinator. Campbell has served as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator for the Wildcats since 2010.
“I am so excited to continue serving the Lake Highlands Learning Community as the next athletic coordinator and head football coach,” Campbell said Friday. “This community is a special place, and I’m honored and humbled with this responsibility. My foremost hope and goal is for LHHS athletics to have a positive impact on the young people entrusted to us as they experience the benefits of hard work and being part of a team.”
Campbell has contributed to the Wildcats’ 13 consecutive playoff appearances and was named Richardson ISD’s Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019. He previously coached in Denton, Lake Dallas, McKinney, A&M Consolidated and Sealey.
As athletic coordinator, he’ll supervise all 17 athletic programs at LHHS, working with coaches in sports as diverse as diving, golf and cross country. The Wildcat 6A state champion basketball team and state contenders in the wrestling program will be included under his umbrella of responsibilities.
“Our programs will continue to be a source of pride for everyone in Lake Highlands, and a positive reason for our community to come together in support of our student-athletes,” said Campbell, who will assume his new role immediately.
