Competition can be a good thing, and there’s been a healthy rivalry between students at Forest Meadow and Lake Highlands Junior High since FMJH opened in 1967. But sometimes, you just have to…let it go.
Talented Chargers and Wildcats have been working together since January to produce Disney’s Frozen Jr. The Musical, based on the 2013 animated feature film and the 2018 Broadway megahit. The show brings Elsa, Anna and the magical land of Arendelle to life onstage. It’s the first time in history students at LH’s two junior highs have come together for a musical theater production.
The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday on the big stage at the Lake Highlands High School auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the door or via the QR code on the poster. Adults pay $10 and students pay $5.
Frozen Jr. is directed by LHJH and FMJH theater teacher Kathryn Williams, graduate of LHHS in 2002 and LHJH before that. Her biggest supporter is Forest Meadow’s assistant principal, Megan Martin, who happens to be a big fan of musical theater. Oh, and she also happens to be Williams’ younger sister.
Little ones are invited to arrive dressed as their favorite prince, princess or Disney character and participate in the Royal Parade led by Olaf during the show’s intermission. If they show up between 6:15 and 6:40, they can have their picture taken in the photo booth with their favorite characters from the show.
