Dallas City Council approved funding for a new park and multipurpose center at Forest Audelia during the March 8 meeting.

An expansion of the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District along Audelia Road, LBJ Freeway and Forest Lane was also approved, which would increase the area by 34 acres.

Funding for a new park and multipurpose center at the northwest corner of Forest Audelia would use an amount of $5,551,590 transferred from the Skillman TIF District to the Parks and Recreation Department Capital Gifts, Donation & Development Fund.

The projected development is broken into three phases:

Phase 1: Neighborhood park

Phase 2: Partial building demolition and building renovation

Phase 3: Program space for educational partner

The future development will be located at 9759 Forest Lane.
