If you’re a fan of The Ticket Radio, chances are you’re also interested in Cocaine Bear, the new movie about a black bear that accidentally ingests a bunch of illicit stimulants and goes on a killing spree.

And that means tonight is your night at the Lake Highlands Alamo Drafthouse, where the Hardline — Corby Davidson, Bob Sturm and Davey Lane — broadcast live before joining the audience for a screening of the darkly hilarious (we hope) film.

Cocaine Bear is based loosely on a real story.

In December 1985, a 175-pound bear died after ingesting a duffel bag full of cocaine dropped from a drug trafficking plane. Cocaine Bear is on display in a Kentucky museum. (The poor bear truly met a tragic end, but so did the smuggler, who died too.)

The movie, which involves big names such as director Elizabeth Banks and star Keri Russell, is a highly hyperbolic treatment of the Cocaine Bear legend.

Members of the Hardline, who deliver a daily entertainment news segment, have been anticipating this movie for some time.

Alamo Drafthouse will have special items on the menu in honor of the momentous premiere, including the Eight Ball. That is eight donut holes tossed in honey and dusted with sugar and cayenne.
