Sugarfire Smoke House, a St. Louis-style barbecue joint, has closed in Lake Highlands.

The restaurant opened next to Fireside Pies at the Creekside shopping center at the Skillman-Abrams intersection in November 2020. It was the first and only Texas location for the chain. Sugarfire also has restaurants in Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Florida and Iowa.

In 2018, Sugarfire chef David Molina was crowned the world sandwich champion at the World Food Championships for his Cuban reuben sandwich.

It has also been featured on Burgers, Brew and ‘Que — hosted by chef Michael Symon — Beat Bobby Flay, and BBQ Pitmasters on TLC.
