Lake Highlands Women’s League volunteers are shaking things up this year, with four beautiful homes on their annual Holiday in the Highlands home tour and lots of new plans in the works.

Tickets will be available on online for the first time, but long time tourgoers may purchase tickets at the door. There’ll be no homecooked luncheon, so visitors are encouraged to “Lunch Around Dallas” in support of LH’s vibrant restaurant community. The holiday bazaar has become the new “Sip & Shop” at the KayCee Club, with dozens of merchants offering unique holiday gifts and one-of-a-kind treasures.

The league’s home tour team always works to find a mix of style, scale and design, and this year’s houses are exceptional.

Emily and Chris Hewett’s home at 9103 Lanshire Drive is a New England coastal sitting on a double lot. Check out the breakfast garden outside French doors in the dining room, the champagne garden with a view of evening sunset, and the rectangular pool with dancing fountains. Colorful, non-traditional Christmas décor will spark your holiday spirit.

Rainy Berry’s home at 9102 Dusti Drive has been extensively remodeled. The kitchen and master bath were taken down to the studs and rebuilt, and a bay window off the kitchen has become an outdoor sitting area by the pool. Don’t miss the indoor office, once a small courtyard, and the original copper fireplace in the living room.

Meredith and Ernesto Gomez’s home at 9511 Mossridge Drive was updated with a Spanish revival flair. A new dining room was once part of the kitchen, and a pool bath and laundry were both part of the primary suite. Watch for a rarity in LH – a basement where the growing family spends time together.

Kathryn and Brandon Cornelius’ home at 9172 Vintage Oaks Court, built in 2016, is full of personalized touches. A hand-built rack includes wine from their favorite vineyards, and thoughtfully selected wood throughout reflect their love for Colorado. An upstairs library displays keepsakes, mementos, and gifts, and three clocks note the time of their wedding and birth of their children.

“Holiday in the Highlands is everyone’s favorite way to get into the holiday spirit,” says Robin Moss Norcross, president of Lake Highlands Women’s League, “and this year we celebrate the 44th anniversary of the Lake Highlands Women’s League signature fundraising event. We are grateful to our homeowners, sponsors, members, and the community who generously support our efforts. We routinely return over 90 percent of funds raised back to our neighborhood by funding scholarships for deserving Lake Highlands High School seniors and supporting our local schools and nonprofits.”

The tour is open 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the tour. Admission to the Sip & Shop at the KayCee Club, 10110 Shoreview, Dec. 1 and 2 is free.
