As the look of work continues to change, it may come as no surprise that Dallas ranks high for the number of spaces for flexible work across the nation.

Dallas-Fort Worth breaks through the top ten metropolitan areas with coworking spaces at No. 5, according to a new study from Coworking Cafe. These flexible spaces are typically used by freelancers, startups and technology companies as remote workers share a community hub with others to get their assignments done, rent office space or hold conferences.

In Dallas we have spots, like Common Desk and WeWork, that are known for their coworking environments and open layouts.

Dallas-Fort Worth has 261 coworking spaces, trailing only behind New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Chicago.

“While that sought-after Southern hospitality, year-round good weather and lack of state income tax could easily be seen as standalone selling points for remote workers, the fact that Dallas provides 98 coworking spaces is also a huge benefit,” Laura Pop-Badiu, the author of the study, writes.

Though the part about our weather is debatable, it certainly isn’t deterring workers.

Houston and Austin also took the 7th and 19th spots on the list with 208 and 97 spaces respectively. At the state level, Texas has 652 spaces for flexible workers and placed at No. 2 on the list behind California at 1,188.
