“Disc golf can turn your walk into a workout,” the headline reads.

Our nation’s newspaper of record notes what many in our neighborhood already know. Disc golf is more popular than ever.

Dallas is home to several disc-golf courses, including B.B. Owen, an 18-hole course in Lake Highlands that has been around since the early ’80s.

“Everyone in the community is extremely welcoming and encouraging of new faces so it’s easy to fit right in,” one B.B. Owen regular told the Advocate in March.

Disc golf can be good for fitness as well as peace of mind. It’s family friendly, inexpensive and accessible for many.

B.B., as the course in our neighborhood is known, has even hosted professional tournaments. Yes, there are professional disc-golf players. The Times reports that the No. 1 player in the United States recently landed a $10-million sponsorship deal.
