If you do much driving around our neighborhood, you’ll probably find this hard to believe.
When it comes to the country’s best and worst drivers — Dallas ranks sixth best.
That is according to a study by LendingTree’s Quote Wizard, which analyzed 70 big cities for accident reports, speeding tickets, DWI/DUIs and other moving citations.
Cities rated among the worst were those with the highest rates of incidents, and the best driving cities had the lowest rates of incidents, the researchers say.
Out of the 70 cities, Dallas ranked 56 for accidents, 51 in DWIs, 60 when it comes to speeding and 58 in other driving citations. We didn’t make the top five in any particular category, but across the board, Dallas is a relatively safe place for drivers, the data show.
According to the study, California may be one of the scariest places to operate a vehicle — CA cities occupy eight of the top 10 spots on the Worst list, including No. 1, Bakersfield.
The top five safest driving cities are Louisville, Kentucky; Hartford, Connecticut; Little Rock, Arkansas; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“Slowing down, staying sober and being safe is incredibly important while driving,” concluded the researchers. “It’s the best way to make sure that you and the people you’re sharing the road with get home safely.”
