Lake Highlands High 2018 grad Ismael Kone will compete this month at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Kone will run the 100M representing his home country Ivory Coast.
Kone, who spent his freshman year at the University of Texas at Arlington and his sophomore year at the University of New Orleans, ran the 100M in 10.23 last month at the NCAA Division I Championships to qualify. He ran a scorching 9.94 in May at the Southland Championships.
The World Athletics Championships will be held July 15-24 at the University of Oregon. More than 2,000 athletes from 190 countries will participate.
