Brighter Bites is partnering with Lake Highlands Family YMCA to give bags of fruits and vegetables starting today.
The bags are available to families in the area at no cost. Pick up will be from 4p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the YMCA parking lot.
Brighter Bites is a nonprofit that delivers food to families in need and underserved communities. The program was created in 2012 by a mother, Lisa Helfman, who partnered with a nutrition expert and epidemiology professor, Dr. Shreela Sharma. Since then, Brighter Bites has served fresh produce to cities across the country.
This will be a recurring event for the next seven weeks.
LH YMCA is located at 8920 Stults Road.
