Lake Highlands neighbor Santo “Sandy” Bisignano Jr. received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dallas Bar Association’s probate, trusts and estate section last week. The Notre Dame law graduate and former SMU law professor has practiced more than four decades in Dallas.
“Sandy is one of the most well-known and respected estate planners in Dallas,” said Chad McLain, who presented the award for the Dallas Bar. “Every estate planner I’ve talked to has a Sandy Bisignano story – he’s mentored them or been a teacher to them or been their entrée into the type of law we do. Our section is like a small community, and I don’t think you can run into anybody who does estate planning in Dallas that hasn’t been assisted in some way by Sandy. That’s what we look at when we’re giving the Lifetime Achievement Award – not only somebody who’s a strong legal mind and has developed an impressive practice of their own, but someone who has given back to the community. He’s done that in countless ways – he chaired the Dallas Bar’s probate, trusts and estate section, he led the Dallas Estate Planning Council, and he’s active in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), which provides service to others.”
Bisignano, founding partner of Bisignano Harrison Neuhoff LLP, was named one of the “Best Lawyers in America” by Woodward White and a “Texas Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly. He and wife, Tia, have two grown children, Tessa and Barrett.
