Dallas police arrested a suspect in connection to two Lake Highlands homicides.

20-year-old Kevin Sheffield was arrested for the murders of Mohamed Kamara and Joseph Syas.

Kamara died weeks later due to his injuries after he was found shot on April 12. Syas was found with a gunshot to his face outside of his home on May 17.

The Dallas Morning News reports that police used the license plate number of the car used in Syas’ shooting to identify Sheffield.

The car was registered under Sheffield’s parents, who lived across the street from where Kamara was shot.

Police found Sheffield driving the car at a shopping center and arrested him. They searched his home and found the weapon that was used in both homicides.

Sheffield’s motive is still unknown and he is currently in Dallas County Jail with a bail set of $3 million.
