Last time we spoke with Lake Highlands High School senior Pippy Stockham, she was on the lineup for the first One Time Only show in November.

The music showcase took place at Granada Theater, featuring other Lake Highlands graduates and Dallas artists, like Cholwe and Violet Daydreamers. Though there was an expected turnout of mostly students, parents and teachers, the event was open to the public.

This is show producer and Advocate writer Simon Pruitt’s second One Time Only showcase, which will happen at Sons of Hermann Hall in Deep Ellum this June.

It’s also Stockham’s last show. At least for a while.

“After this, I’m hoping to still do music, but I’m going to college at Clemson University and studying nursing,” Stockham says.

She’ll be focusing more on college and the transition on a new path toward her career, but music will still be on her mind as she hopes to put out another project before putting things on hold.

“I’ve just been so swamped with school and all of that stuff that I haven’t gotten to be working as much as I want to,” she says. “But I’m hoping I can release at least one more (single) hopefully when I have more time this summer before I leave.”

Headlining the show is Dallas native, singer-songwriter and musician Damoyee. The two haven’t performed together, in true One Time Only fashion.

Damoyee has three projects out, and her music has won awards from Dallas Observer and Central Track. She’s performed at venues in Dallas and across the nation, including Montgomery Arts Theater in Dallas, House of Blues and the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood.

Stockham says she’s most looking forward to interacting with the audience and feeling their energy. It’s also something that she’ll miss while she’s away.

“I’m definitely going to miss it,” she says. “That’s my favorite part of doing any show is just talking with the crowd and getting them to sing back to me and getting them to interact with me and making sure that they’re having as good of a time as I am.”

Since the first One Time Only show, Stockham has become even more of a celebrity among her peers.

Some recognize her from the showcase while others have discovered her covers online, and some have asked her advice on how to get started as a performer.

“Now, when I walk around school, I have a ton of people who know more about me and my music and it’s really cool,” she says. “When people come up to me or reach out to me through social media about that, either they want advice or they just want to say that they like my work. I feel like it’s made me even closer with the Lake Highlands community.”

General admission tickets for One Time Only Summer Series are available here for $25. The show happens June 18 at Sons of Hermann Hall from 7-10 p.m.
